Relaxed and informal but the food is exceptional. The style is a sort of casual yet high end Italian, if you know what I mean. They recently got a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which is basically the win win of restaurant awards – it usually means exceptional food without the exceptional prices.
The dining room at Pichet is bright and airy and the food is never less than excellent. Dining here is just a pleasure.
Intimate, cosy and very, very French, Chez Max is perfect when you want to switch on the romance. Although it’s the perfect setting to catch up with friends too. If you’re on a budget it’s one of the cheaper options on the list.
Situated above a bookshop on Ormond Quay, The Winding Stair oozes charm and originality. The food is contemporary Irish with heavy emphasis on food provenance. A particularly good choice if you want to show off to a visitor to the city.
A cosy but modern bistro on Exchequer Street, The Green Hen has an exciting menu with a French flavour to it.
A steakhouse with a distinctly New York vibe. Whitefriar Grill is a good choice for a more substantial meal, still a great spot for a nice date though.
A Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of the city offering excellent cocktails and simple but delicious food. But beware if you’re looking to impress your date, they only take bookings for six or more.
Possibly the best value in Dublin, Vintage Kitchen is serving some of the best food in the city at only €28 for two courses and it’s BYO. Where’s the catch you say? Well with deals like that it’s hard to get, but book well in advance and it’ll be worth it.
